Cómo funciona Carry Echo

Carry Echo keeps a letter until the day you chose, then emails it to the person you wrote it for. This page says exactly how that works, and what we promise along the way.

Writing it

You write on a sheet of paper, in one of five handwriting faces. On a plan you can place photos on the page, and add voice notes and video.

Text letters are free, for good, and there’s no monthly limit. To stop anyone using Carry Echo to send spam, one account can schedule up to 20 letters a day, or 100 on a plan. A plan adds photos, voice notes and video, from the space each plan lists on the pricing page.

A letter stays a draft until you give it a day, and you can come back to it as often as you like.

Choosing the day

Pick any day up to sixty years ahead, and a part of that day: night, morning, afternoon or evening. It is read on the clock you choose, yours or theirs, so a morning letter arrives in their morning.

Until it is delivered you can change the day, the part of the day or the time zone, or stop the letter and take it back to your drafts.

While it waits

Your letter is encrypted while it is stored and whenever it travels over the internet. It is not end-to-end encrypted: our systems have to be able to open a letter to deliver it.

Nobody reads it. The small team that runs Carry Echo can see delivery details, such as names, addresses, dates and status, to keep letters arriving on time. We do not open the body of a letter or what is inside it, unless you ask us to help with one, we are investigating a report of abuse, or the law requires it.

Photos, voice notes and video are kept with the letter for as long as the letter is kept.

On the day

On the day, in the part of the day you chose, we email the letter to every address you gave. It comes from your name, with the subject “A letter from” and your name, and a link that opens it.

They don’t need an account or an app. The letter opens in their browser, on paper, with everything you placed on it.

Email is partly outside our control: an address can stop working over the years, and a message can land in spam. Keep your recipients’ addresses up to date, and add a second address for anyone you can.

If you stop paying

Your letters are still delivered. Cancelling a plan only stops future payments. Every letter that already has its day stays sealed with us and reaches them on that day, whether that is next week or years from now.

If you want it all gone

Write to support@carryecho.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete everything. Deleting is permanent: letters that haven’t arrived will never be delivered, and delivered letters stop opening online.
