Write about who they were before this day, what you see in the person they’re marrying or becoming, and what you hope for them. Schedule it for the morning part of the wedding day so it’s read before the ceremony. Don’t know the date yet? Set one now and move it when it’s booked.
The wedding morning is one of the few moments a letter is read with full attention. Parents often write it years ahead; couples write it in the last weeks.
What to write
- From a parent: a memory from their childhood, what you admire in who they’ve become, and a blessing in your own words.
- From a grandparent: your own wedding day, and what kept your marriage going.
- To the person you’re marrying: the moment you knew, and what you’re promising that isn’t in the vows.
If the date isn’t set yet
Write the letter now and give it a placeholder date. A letter can be moved until it is delivered, so change it the day the wedding is booked, and choose the morning part of the day.
How to make sure it arrives on the day
- Write it on Carry Echo. Words are free and unlimited; a plan adds photos placed on the page, voice notes and short video.
- Choose the day and the part of the day. Choose the morning, on their time zone. If the wedding is abroad, set the clock to where the wedding is.
- Give every address you have for them. The letter goes to each one, so it still arrives if an address has changed.
They need no account and no app. On the day, an email comes from your name with a link, and the letter opens on paper in their browser. Until then you can move the day or take the letter back to your drafts.
