छोटा जवाब

Stay with FutureMe for a letter to your future self. For a letter to someone you love, on paper with photos and your voice, choose Carry Echo. For a free, well-reviewed letter to yourself, EmailToFuture. For the cheapest scheduled email with attachments, LetterToLater. For one video letter, dear.you. For a capsule that can be printed and posted, Sealed.

FutureMe has delivered letters to the future since 2002 and says it has sent over twenty million. It is still where most people start, and for a letter to yourself it is hard to beat.

People look elsewhere for three reasons: they want to write to someone else, they want photos or video at a price they can see first, or they want the letter to feel like more than an email. We make Carry Echo, which is one of the options below, and we’ve tried to say plainly where each of the others is the better choice.

When to stay with FutureMe

  • You’re writing to yourself: goals, predictions, a letter for next year. That is what it was built for.
  • You like reading other people’s letters. FutureMe has a page of public, anonymous ones.
  • You want the name with the longest record: almost twenty-five years.

Why people look for an alternative

  • Writing to someone else. FutureMe’s home page says you must create an account first.
  • The price of media. Images, videos and files need Premium, and on 2 October 2026 Premium’s price wasn’t shown on FutureMe’s public pages.
  • Recent reviews. Some reviews on Trustpilot from August and September 2026 describe meeting a payment step only after writing a letter. There are only eleven reviews there, so read them rather than take our summary. On the App Store it was rated 2.7 from 136 ratings.
  • What arrives. An email. Right for a note to yourself; plainer than some people want for a child’s 18th birthday.

The alternatives

1. Carry Echo: for a letter to someone you love

Built for letters to someone else: a daughter at 18, a grandchild, a partner on a wedding morning. You write on paper in one of five handwriting faces, place photos on the page, add a voice note or a video, and choose a day up to sixty years ahead and a part of that day, on their clock. The recipient needs no account. Text letters are free; a plan for photos, voice notes and video starts at $5.99 a month or $49 a year. It isn’t made for letters to your future self.

2. EmailToFuture: the free letter to yourself

The closest like-for-like swap for a letter to your future self, and it can import your FutureMe letters. Free, up to ten years ahead, to up to two recipients; attachments and up to ten recipients cost $1.99 a letter, or $0.80 each in a pack of ten. On 2 October 2026 it had 4.9 on Trustpilot from 245 reviews, many from people who had left FutureMe.

3. LetterToLater: the cheapest scheduled email with attachments

Free for letters to yourself. $3.90 a year, or $9.90 once, adds photos, video, audio and other recipients. A small service, and what arrives is an email with attachments.

4. dear.you: one video letter

Record a video of up to ten minutes; it is emailed on a day up to twenty years ahead, and the recipient opens it from a private link. $39 a letter, once. Choose it if what you want to leave is your face and voice rather than a written letter.

5. Sealed: a capsule that can arrive in the post

Letters, photos and voice notes for yourself or someone else, arriving at 8am on the day. The first capsule is free, then $2.99 each; for $9.98 it is printed and posted to the US, UK, Canada or the EU. It is new and shows no track record yet.
