छोटा जवाब
Stay with Timehut for a baby photo album that also holds future letters, opened in its app. Choose Carry Echo for letters that reach your child by email on the day you choose, up to sixty years ahead, with photos and your voice. Choose EverLetter for a capsule for each child, unlocking on birthdays. Choose Letters Forever for handwritten letters in the post, up to ten years ahead.
Timehut is a baby album app, running since 2012 and rated 4.6 from about 1,000 ratings on the App Store on 2 October 2026. Alongside photos and milestones, each baby has a mailbox of future letters from you and the family, opened on a receiving date you choose. VIP storage is $29.99 a year.
The letters are a feature of the album, read inside the app. The alternatives below are built around the letter itself. We make Carry Echo, one of them.
When Timehut is the right choice
- You want the photos, videos and milestones of the early years in one place, with the letters beside them.
- Grandparents and family are already in the app, adding photos and comments.
- You’re happy for the letters to be read in the app, years from now.
Why people look for an alternative
- Will they open the app in eighteen years? A letter that lives inside an app depends on your child installing it, and on the account and the app still being there.
- The letter is a side feature. Timehut is built for the album; the mailbox is one part of it.
- Something for the day itself. Some parents want the letter to arrive on the birthday morning, not wait to be found.
The alternatives
1. Carry Echo: a letter that arrives on the morning
Write to your child now, on paper in one of five handwriting faces, with photos you place and a voice note or a video, and choose their 18th birthday, or any day up to sixty years ahead, and the part of that day. It reaches them by email and opens in a browser, with no account or app. Text letters are free; a plan for photos, voice notes and video starts at $5.99 a month or $49 a year. It isn’t a photo album.
2. EverLetter: a capsule for each child
A private timeline for each child holding video, voice, letters, photos and documents, unlocking on birthdays, graduations or any date through a private link with no account. From $9.99 a month or $99 a year, up to $199 a year for a family. It runs in the browser today, its iPhone app is being built, and it shows no track record yet.
3. Letters Forever: handwritten, in the post
Write by hand; a family business keeps the letter sealed and posts it on your date, up to ten years ahead. $15 a letter. Ten years is the limit, so it suits an 8-year-old’s 18th birthday better than a newborn’s.
4. A letter book on the shelf
A bound book of letters you fill in by hand and give them when they’re grown. Nothing to subscribe to; it depends on the book surviving the moves, and on someone remembering the day.
